One of the great philosophical debates is the age old question of what is thought? We are now in a scientific era in which we can begin to understand and visualise thought processes, understand ways to manipulate thought and even produce artificial thought. So how far have we come in our understanding of thought, what are the processes, where do they come from and do we have truly independent thought? Neale Cohen is a Doctor of Medicine and scientist with a background in Medical Research and Philosophy. Based on science and biology that we all accept and understand in conjunction with simple logic he explores the implications of thought as a purely biological process, and discusses the less likley possibility that it is an autonomous process. To most of us thought appears to be self generated and independent, however is the complexity and plasticity of our brains creating this illusion? And is all thought completely predictable (in theory)? This outstanding interview explores these issues in a clear and evidence based discussion. The interviewer is Neale’s friend, Michael Bennett
